iPhone 11 won’t connect via vehicle’s aux port

Our son recently purchased a used vehicle (2013 Nissan Pathfinder), which does not have Bluetooth. He tried to connect his iPhone 11 via the Aux port/USB cable but the vehicle will not recognize the iPhone. When I (iPhone 10X) or my wife (iPhone 8) plug our phones into the Aux cable the stereo picks them up just fine. He’s tried 3 different cords, including the one that came with his iPhone.

Does the iPhone 11 have some sort of default setting that the 10X /8 don’t that could be causing this? We’ve tried changing various settings (e.g., Accessibility that was suggested in another thread) but to no avail. We’re all updated on our iOS as well.
