How to reset NVRAM/SMC on M1 MacBooks?

Hello, I would like to reset NVRAM/SMC on my Mac since I realised my battery drains around 5% overnight (not sure if this is normal, but below attached is the activities on my laptop during sleep).

Hence, would like to know how do I do the reset with M1 Macs?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.5

Hi,

You can't reset SMC/NVRAM in M1 Macs, since there is no hardwares for resetting SMC/NVRAM. Instead, you will need to push power switch for 10 seconds at start up to manage M1 Macs.

The long press forces a hard shutdown, and I wouldn’t prefer to do that when the Mac is responding.

If your Mac is not wedged, I’d just try a restart. The restart clear a number of problems. It’s also what Apple recommends for a battery-related reset: If your Mac battery won’t charge - Apple Support

For the requested reset, Apple doesn’t have much published. Here’s what little is around, and I don’t know how well (or if) this will work: https://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/reset-smc-mac-26444/
