iPhone 5s Apps Not Updating

Hi there,

I have not seen a similar question asked but am sure SOMEONE ELSE has experienced this problem within the past few days.

I have an iPhone 5s running the latest iOS Software (12.5.4) that will run on that device. Ever since Sunday (8/15/21) the App Store app on my iPhone 5s has told me there have been various apps that have updates available for it. But, when you try to update the particular app you get the circular progress bar and when the progress bar completes the icon goes back to the "Update" button like the app needs to be updated.

On Sunday, the App Store only listed 3 apps that had updates available but now there are about 20 that have updates available but the App Store app does not successfully update them.

Some apps that I have on my iPhone 5s have had no problem updating since this problem begun. Apps such as "Best Buy", "Regal: Movie Tickets & Times", "NFL", and "Google Maps" have shown updates available after the problem started on Sunday and have updated with no issues at all so its not all apps showing this issue.

Some of the apps that won't update successfully at the present time on my iPhone 5s are: "Twitter", "Yahoo Mail", "eBay" and "IMDb".

I have a feeling that some of the affected apps no longer support the iOS 12 Operating System and the App Store is showing updates available for some selected Apps in error. The reason I have this feeling is that for example, the "Redbox" App shows an update available but will not successfully update and in the "description" area of the app on the App Store they state "In this update you'll find bug fixes, performance enhancements and a few feature updates. We have also ended support for older iOS versions, so please be sure to update your device to the latest iOS update in order to optimize your entertainment experience!"

Speaking to an Apple Representative on Sunday when this problem initially started went nowhere and while I can use a lot of the existing apps with no problem Im afraid to delete and re-install any app because the App Store might try to install a version of the app that won't work with iOS 12.5.4. Clicking on some of the "update available" apps in the App Store comes up with a pop up asking "Download an older version of this app?" but clicking on "Download" just leads to a another pop up with the same message in an endless loop.

Have any other iPhone 5s users running iOS 12.5.4 been experiencing this issue with the App Store Updates recently or am I the only one?

Thanks for any assistance. Cheers!
