Apple Watch battery drains and dies when not near iPhone

I have had this problem since Apple Watch series 2. I had a iPhone 7 Plus. I’d take off the watch leave it in vehicle because I don’t want to scratch it at work. The battery level would go down to 10% or die completely in the day that I’m away from the vehicle and in the customers house with my iPhone. But if I wear my Apple Watch the battery is ok. I carry my iPhone around in my pocket all the time. The funny thing is. I upgraded my Apple Watch to series 4 cellular and my iPhone is 11 pro max now and it still does the same. Is it following me around like software bug on my backup ?

Take a look at the following guide for details on keeping your watch within normal operating temperatures. If it's took hot or cold in your car, this can effect battery life: Keep Apple Watch within acceptable operating temperatures

Thx for reply. I cover up the watch away from sun. I live in the uk. I can see your point. The watch does sometimes get hot. I think next time I’ll turn off the watch and maybe power won’t drain. I think because I regularly return to van to get tools etc maybe the Bluetooth is trying to connect with my iPhone. I’ve tried unpairing and resetting etc.
