Cannot hear MIDI Keyboard in Logic Pro

Hello, I am extremely new to producing but I own an Alesis V49 MIDI keyboard that I am trying to work with Logic Pro. When I plug it in, it registers the notes however it will not play sound back. I’ve googled the internet but all tutorials about MIDI and Logic that I’ve found have been assuming that the Midi Keyboard already produces sound. I know its not a problem with the keyboard, although it may definitely be an output issue. I have no clue how to solve it however. I own a Focusrite Scarlet audio interface but I quite honestly have no clue what its purpose in all of this is. For instruments and mics, sure it makes sense, but is it supposed to connect to my MIDI as well? I’m sorry this is a stupid question but music is my passion and I’m close to giving up on this lifelong dream due to my own idiocity.
