Ipad connected to TV via HDMI/Digital Av Adapter not showing full screen when viewing

Hi there, i am wondering if anyone can help. I am connecting my Ipad to my TV through Apple's Digital AV Adapter with a HDMI cable. When viewing it on the TV it has black borders and doesn't show full screen. Is there any workaround to get it full screen as i cannot view videos in fullscreen, any help would be much appreciated.

iPad Pro, iPadOS 14

You are absolutely correct with the description of your concern while your iPad is hooked up to your TV using the HDMI adapter. As you know, the iPad's aspect ration is different from your TV. You are therefore seeing the black bars to the left and right side of the iPad's screen on your TV. The iPad does not adjust the aspect ratio of its output to match the aspect ratio of your TV. There are no workarounds to this that I know of.
