no light on magsafe charger

Unplug the charger from the electrical outlet for a minute to reset the charger's internal circuitry. Try using another electrical outlet.

Make sure the Magsafe connector of the charger is fitting properly on the laptop. Reseat the Magsafe connector several times and wiggle it. Also look to see the laptop's charging port to see if any metal shavings or a staple are stuck on the magnet of the charging port. I find that the "L" shaped Magsafe can easily not seat correctly if the laptop's case is in any way damaged since the "L" shaped charger doesn't even allow (or barely allows) a piece of paper to fit between the "L" shaped connector and the laptop's case when everything is in perfect condition.

I also find the two prong Duck Head adapter tends to fail quite easily so you may want to try using an AC Cord (aka Power Extension Cable).

Try an SMC Reset.
