iPhone Sync Duplicate Contacts on Big Sur - Such a problematic upgrades

Been 15 years using Mac but only Big Sur giving me such a problematic transitions.

I just realized after synced my iPhone thru Music i got duplicate contacts on my iPhone which results duplicates on iCloud and my Mac.

I saw this page below but only gives me more confusion where to go

If you see duplicates in Contacts on iCloud.com, visit Apple Support for help.

Can anyone elaborate how to restore my contacts back to it's previous state?

Thank you!

Anyways,

since upgrading my old macbook pro late 2013 to Big Sur, i've posted lots of issues found, from Aperture to Photos migration took forever, iTunes to Music screw up my Library, GUI glitches, and more... very inconvenient and problematic. I do own Macbook Pro 2019 16-inch touchbar model but this one has no issue since everything here are installed from scratch

iPhone 6, iOS 12

Greetings Aldy W,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're happy to help with this trouble you're having with your contacts. Since this issue is across both devices, you can start with removing the duplicates from iCloud.com. Using your MacBook, follow these steps:

  1. Make a copy of your contacts.
  2. Open Contacts.
  3. From the Card menu, select Card > Look for Duplicates.
  4. When asked, click Merge.
  5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until no duplicates are found.
  6. Make another copy of your iCloud Contacts.

More info on that can be found here:

If you see duplicate contacts after setting up iCloud Contacts

If the changes do not replicate to your iPhone, use the guidance listed here:

If your iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders won’t sync

Should this persist after following these articles, get in touch with Apple Support for further assistance:
