I was gifted a MacBook Air and I restarted it but don't know the name. How do I get into the computer if I don't know the name?

1 - Restart computer and immediately hold Command + r keys
2 - Top Tool Bar >> Utilities >> Terminal
3 - Type resetpassword as one word and no spaces
4 - Press Return key
5 - Follow the prompts and remember the New Password

2 - Press and hold the power button on your Mac until you see “Loading startup options.”
3 - Click Options, then click Continue.

Credentials:
Ask the person you gifted you the MacBook Air for the login credentials.
As suggested by previous poster.
Gifted the computer but they still have 100% control of the computer without the Admin User Name and Account information. IMHO - this is not really a gift but a loan. For you to have Full Control over the computer with ALL Admin. functions and responsibilities - the computer should have be prepared properly as in What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Mac
I know the password but I didn't know when you restart the MacBook you had to put in a name. When I restarted the computer, it asked for a name and passcode but I have no idea what the name is. I tried mine and the previous owners name but it did not work and no options are showing up for me to reset the name or anything so I am locked out of it.
I know the password however, there is a space I have to fill out that appears on top of the password option and without that information, I cannot get into the computer.
Are you asking about Login credentials; ID and password or the actual computer's name?
