my friend gave me a macbook, i have changed the administrator name and password.
however the user name slot is blank after i restart the computer. Now i cannot change or install anything.
I have tried new and old name, it doesn't work. what i can do?

You should at least perform the step to perform a clean reinstall of macOS by first erasing the drive before reinstalling macOS.
