That works only if the subscription was not started through an Apple device but directly with WSJ. Otherwise the WSJ would tell you to cancel it through Apple.

So again, subscription started through Apple can only be cancelled through Apple. Subscriptions started through the WSJ's website, can only be cancelled through them as explained in the support document If the subscription that you want to cancel is not listed and it's included links.
