why does iPhone 7 suck on 5 GHz wifi?

why does iPhone 7 suck on 5 GHz wifi? It didn't used to, it used to be fast. But for a while now (months?) it's been a problem.

I get 90 - 100 Mbs on 2.4 GHz wifi, 1-2 Mbps on 5 GHz.

what's up?

Is this happening when you connect to different networks or just a specific one? If it occurs when connected to a Wi-Fi router that you are able to manage, we'd suggest following the recommendations here:

Additionally, you may also want to try to Reset Network Settings following the steps under the "Still can't connect" section here:

Hello MichelleT18,

Checked all the info on both links, no change.

One thing I ran across on another site was that perhaps my 5 GHz WiFi antenna has been damaged in some way due to a drop of the phone or something. I have not dropped my iPhone directly to the ground, always manage to catch it on my foot (years of playing soccer), so no big impacts, but perhaps even an indirect impact off my foot could have damaged it.

The site suggested taking it to an Apple store to have it checked out. Perhaps that's a good idea.

Not sure the stores are open now with Delta, but I'll look into that. Might get a new battery while I'm at it.
