I know my apple ID password is correct but it tells me its wrong when I'm trying to get into my Ipad to unlock the activation lock screen

My ipad is in activation Lock. I have the apple id and password but it won't accept what is used. Need it to be activated. HELP!!! Can't get passed the Activation Lock. I have put in the Apple ID and Password hit next and a white box pops up saying Incorrect Apple ID or Password.

Start here, How to remove Activation Lock - Apple Support

You will need to recover your password. If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support
