Buy music

I cannot buy an album in Apple Music on my iMac not my iPhone. It only gives me the option of subscribing to Apple Music which I do not want to do

You should still be able to access the iTunes Sore when using the Apple Music app in Catalina or later. See Buy music from the iTunes Store - Apple Support.
