What make and model is the printer? Also what model and year is your iMac?
Most printers come with USB cables included. Did yours?

Most of the printer models used USB to Host.
Connect the USB to Host to the printer. If you use Mac with Touch ID, buy an adapter. Then connect the original USB to your Mac.
