Pink / Purple screen with black line

i brought my laptop to Mac. I found that this issue is caused because a cord was too short connecting the laptop to the screen. Unfortunately Apple covers this defect for 2016 MacBook Pro models - but mine is a 2017 and I would be looking at over $800 for a new screen.

Maybe time to switch back to PC - or maybe Apple could fix all computer with this problem that’s been recalled on some models but not all???

I have this exact problem on a 2017 MacBook Pro laptop. This "Purple-Line" Defect is well known when you google it. Took mine to Apple, they wanted $700 to replace the screen. Too much so I bought a new laptop. Then I called to trade-in the 2017 laptop with the Purple Line defect. The Apple Rep acknowledged the problem as being known and said the trade-in value would be unchanged due to the defect, they would give me $400. But after shipping it back to Apple, I get an email saying the Trade-in value was zero! Due to the "screen defect". Tried calling support and they were uncharacteristically unsupportive, no longer acknowledging the Purple Line defect. This is the worst experience i have had with Apple - and I have been a loyal customer for 25 years. Now I may try to replace the screen myself ($329 from Amazon) following a YouTube video - just for fun since the laptop is useless otherwise.
