iCloud full, need to move photos from messages to MacMini

iCloud full, need to move photos from messages to my MacMini.

I tried moving pictures from messages to Photos on my MacMini (M1, Big Sur) then deleting from messages.

The photos came back from my iPhone SE!

Please tell me how to proceed.
