iphone12 mini SIM
considering ordering iPhone 12 mini through eBay since Verizon did not follow through or communicate after I ordered through them. Moving from 8s+ to 12 mini. Will the 12 mini accept the sim from the old phone?

KiltedTim is 100% correct on this. The key is that to use any SIM, the iPhone has to be cellular provider "unlocked." It is possible to get one via eBay, but it there is no guarantee that it will be ... so be careful and fully understand eBay's return policy.
Not to be a "killjoy," but you will also need to know that this phone is not activation locked. If it is, it will be totally useless to you, regardless of what SIM card you would use with it.

Yes.
Why is ebay your other choice?
Buy it from Apple directly, and avoid any issues.
If you are in a country where Verizon exists, then you can buy it directly from Apple's online store without any issues. All iPhones sold by Apple directly are unlocked and can be used with any carrier. The only exception is if you choose AT&T and pay using AT&T's installment plan. Then it will be locked to AT&T. Selecting any other carrier or the Sim Free version will yield an unlocked iPhone.

If you buy an iPhone on ebay in the US, you will be buying what is technically a 'used' device at best.
There are no authorized iPhone retailers selling iPhones on ebay in the US.
In addition, there is no legitimate source for a new unlocked iPhone in the US other than through Apple directly.
After TOTAL FRUSTRATION with Verizon representative ‘s assurance that I had completed the purchase & it was being added to my monthly plan payments so that I paid an additional x number$ over 2 years there was no further communication . When I attempted to contact customer service for tracking info - they found nothing on record. I waited a long while believing each day it would arrive - waiting up late etc etc. NADA
Many other things brought no satisfaction unti FINALLY a search with terms iphone12 mini 64gb or something similar led me to EBay thinking MAYBE someone with a LOT more money than this old man MIGHT not like the one he got and offer it there. So - sorry for long labored response but if you ask I’ll try to answer . TTHIS HAS NOT GONE WELL.
FWIW. I do not have Verizon as my carrier. I use AT&T instead. However, a few of my other family members do use Verizon. Regardless, I found in all cases, purchasing the phone directly from Apple ... and then, letting Apple work with the cellular provider always resulted in a smooth transition of iPhones ... and this is true for both of those providers. I rarely purchase phones from the provider's store and definitely not from those phone kiosks in shopping malls.
If I go with the unlocked one then it would not matter which provider and if I wanted another provider I’d just need a sim from them? True?
