How do I transfer my itunes from my old computer to my new computer? I thought I just needed to log in to my account and my songs would be there!

Seems you may have to sign in to your Apple ID on your new PC to add it to the list of trusted devices.
These article from Apple Support may help access iTunes ok
Set up and view an iTunes Store account on PC
(Select your Windows version at the top, for the most accurate information)

and then re-download your iTunes purchases to your new PC, so the files are available to play.on the new PC.
