Gen 5 Apple TV remote's Siri button not working

Apple TV 5th generation side placed Siri button only brings up a search screen - does respond to any voice commands. All other functions on the remote are working fine.

Siri has an On|Off setting. Turn Siri on or off on Apple TV - Apple Support

Siri on Apple TV is available in limited countries for limited languages. Use Siri on your Apple TV - Apple Support

Continue to press the button while speaking to Siri. Talk to your Apple TV - Apple Support
