Camera function in IPhone 8 plus

When I open the camera I have a black screen when the 1x zoom function (I am assuming that’s what it means from my searches) when I tap it to 2x it opens the screen, yet won’t take pictures: however it is taking Slow-Mo’s and Video on the 2x function. I have turned it off, reset it. Given that we are meant to scan a QR code on entry to any store we enter (Lockdown Protocols In Australia) or write your name in a book, which has all sorts of privacy and health issues, I’d really appreciate any assistance that can be provided.. Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having issues with your iPhone's built-in camera. Good job testing all the different features of your camera. Do you find the issue persists if you use a 3rd party app like Instagram, Facebook, etc. to take a photo?

If you haven't done so yet, we suggest following the suggestions provided in article, If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working. If the issue persists, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support or have your iPhone inspected by a technician.
