Muting the Apple AirPods Max microphone

Is there a plan to add gesture to the AirPods Max? Is there a way to mute the microphone? If there isn't this is a HUGE oversight in design for basic features of a good wireless headset, let alone one that COSTS $500. The pros are customizable/have gesture controls, etc.., There are many times I am logged into a Teams or Zoom call and have gotten up from my laptop to get a drink, walk while I'm on a call or what have you. Or I leave my phone plugged into power and get up to do the same, because wireless--why else have it? If you don't want to redesign and add features, add double-click to the transparency button? Something?
