Games cause all computers to run hot which means the fans will usually run at higher speeds which in a laptop means the fans will run at high speed. Games use a lot of CPU resources as well as usually doing a lot of processing with the GPU to display the ever changing graphics on the screen.

It doesn't help that the MBAir 2018-2020 Intel model also does not have a very good cooling system. This laptop has only indirect cooling of the CPU. This particular laptop only has a very simple heatsink with no heatpipe so the fan is unable to blow air directly over the heatsink/heatpipe. This laptop is not a good choice for gaming except perhaps for much older games that do not stress the CPU or GPU very much. Every tech I know who has opened this laptop is shocked to discover the incredibly poor cooling system this laptop has. It is just another example of some of the extremely important design decisions Apple has implemented in recent years (2016+).

Make sure to uninstall any anti-virus apps, cleaning apps, or third party software by following the developer's instructions. These types of apps are not needed on a Mac and usually cause more problems than they solve plus they impact system performance. Also quit all other open apps when playing the game so only the game is utilizing the system resources.
