Music playback sound level goes up after 3 seconds

iMac 24 in M1, OS 11.5.2.

In the Music App, the Playback sound goes up after 3 seconds or so when a track is begun after a period of no playbacks. If I select next track whilst one is playing, there is no change in sound level.

I've switched sound check on and off, but this doesn't change this behaviour.

Also the balance across the sound frequencies changes markedly between low and high volume.

Music App on Mac computer is quieter recently Has anyone else noticed that since their recent Mac system update, the Music app has been quieter than it used to be? For example, if I preview an audio file on my computer (by navigating to the file and clicking the play button), the volume will be quite a bit louder as opposed to when I play the song in the Music app. Very annoying issue. Even if you turn the volume setting (top right hand corner of Music app) all the way up, the songs just aren't as loud as they used to be using the Music App on Mac. I'm finding that I have to turn my speakers up much louder than I used to, even compared to playing songs off Youtube in Safari. Also, the volume will occasionally "jump" up, especially when you first start playing a song. Apple, can you please try to fix this bug?

My output sound selection keeps changing I have a new 16" M1 Max MacBook Pro. I'm running Monterey 12.3 I've got three possible sound output choices: MacBook Pro speakers LED Cinema Display speakers Apogee Quartet audio interface. I'm really wanting to use the Quartet, but this problem affects even the LED Cinema speakers. Here's what's happening: If I pick either the LED Cinema or the Quartet as my output sound choice (in the System Preferences dialog), everything works fine for a minute or so. Then my selected output choice disappears from the System Preferences dialog and I temporarily hear through the laptop speakers for a second or two. Then it switches back. This continually cycles and is most irritating. How do I fix it?

Thanks for replying.

I tried Safe Mode, ** the sound behaviour was the same as I reported above, both in Safe Mode, and when I restarted normally.

Please try to restart in Safe Mode ( Safe Mode Reset )and then restart normally and test the Mac.
