Phone keeps auto locking even though auto lock is turned off.

My phone will automatically lock itself after a short period of time even though auto lock is set to ‘never’ (I’ve checked multiple times that this is the case). It even happens when I’m using the gps on Maps. This is very annoying (not to mention dangerous while I’m driving). Why is this happening and what do I do to fix it?

Question: Is your iPhone issued by an institution such as an employer?

1) Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

(2) If the above does not work then - Your iPhone 12 Pro Max is probably still under Apple's 1YR Limited Warranty. Take advantage of it by having your iPhone examined at the Apple Store or at an Authorized Service Center for further diagnosis and resolution.
