I have just upgraded to BIG SUR (11.5.2) on a MacBook Pro Touch using Microsoft Office 16.45. RE: Accessibility > Spoken Content.

The Read Aloud function works fine in EXCEL, speaking only the highlighted text and/or cells. However, in WORD speaks the entire document from the beginning of the file and will not simply speak highlighted text.

I have tried selecting/deselecting the different options in the and restarting the Mac, but nothing seems to work.

Can anyone help?

Verify your software is up to date...

For your third party software contact Microsoft: support/help/FAQ/known issues/compatibility

The current Office for Mac; Office 365 or Office 2019 (One-time purchase) are OK with Catalina/Big Sur

Big Sur compatibility—Microsoft recently announced that it was officially ending support for Office 2016 for Mac on October 13, 2020. Apple Silicon compatibility in Office 2016 is questionable. Office 2019 no issues.
