No bluetooth connection between my iPhone SE (2020) and my UE Boom3 bluetooth speaker

I have UEBoom 2 and UEBoom 3 bluetooth speakers, I also have 2 iPhones -- an iPhone SE (First Generation) and an iPhone SE 2020 edition. My earlier-model iPhone connects easily to both by UE Boom 2 and 3 speakers, but my newer iPhone SE 2020 simply cannot detect my Boom 3, despite easily locating my UE Boom 2. I've switched off an rebooted my new phone with no success. What must I do, please?

Hold down the Bluetooth button (above the power button) until you hear a tone. NOTE: The Bluetooth connection button will blink rapidly, meaning the speaker is ready for pairing. On your device, go to the Bluetooth menu and scan for devices. Tap ULTIMATE EARS BOOM to pair.

The speaker voice says : "to use this feature, please make sure the app is running and can access the internet". The app I'm trying to use is Spotify, and it is running. But on the Bluetooth screen on my iPhone settings, under the "My Devices" heading the only one is my UE Boom 2, not the UE Boom 3, which IS switched on. There is just a small twirling circle as the iPhone SE2020 hunts for "other devices" which it, apparently, can't find.
