Thanks. But from what I understand, the system must be switched on and online before I can know it’s location- is that correct?
when it was stolen, it was switched off, what I’ve done is to lock it.
so, there is nothing else I can do than to wait until the thief powers it on?
If the thief happens to know your password sure, or if you elected no password at login which is doubtful. Can you sign out if he starts it up and can't login? No, you have to be present on some network somewhere to be able to manipulate it and logging in does that. You need to face the fact it's gone and your chances of some sort of notice from the Ether is nill.
Will you ever get it back? I'd say not likely, but then I've never been good at predicting the future and strange things do happen. A Mac is a fine device, but it's not magical, it still obeys the laws of physics and without a connection your password allows for you can't do anything.
Thank you for the information. I asked to know if I could still erase the device if that happens. I have too much official data on that device. But don’t want to erase it now, hoping I will be able to recover it back.
Once turn off it's essentially a brick; no electronic emissions of any type. Contact local law enforcement and list it as stolen property.
Thank you for the useful information
Is it possible to get signed out of my device? If that happens, will I get notified and would I still be able to know it’s location?
Ok. You're free to believe whatever you wish.
