Any of the optical drives offered by OWC (MacSales.com). They are very reliable and are guaranteed to work with Macs. This is the model I have as I rip a lot of audiobooks and needed a fast read capability and connection: OWC Mercury Pro 24X Super-Multi DVD/CD Burner/Reader External Optical Drive with M-DISC Support
Didn't need fast write as one gets more reliable writes at slower speeds. And drawer loading is better (IMO) than slot loading.

I have used the Cisdem DVD burner for 2 years. It is very flexible in making DVD menus and allows to add special effects to the video. And the customer service has replied quickly if there is any problem. But it can’t burn pictures, only videos.

Thanks for the quick turnaround, btw what program do you use for burning? Thanks again and KTF Bob
For data discs I use the Finder. For video DVD discs I have an external SSD with High Sierra on it into which I boot and use iDVD to create and burn my video DVDs.
Most drives work with a Mac, I have several different brands. I use Toast19 fir burning data and video dvd’s
