iPhone 6S plus not syncing mail app with outlook account

Hi. The past few months my apple mail app on my iPhone 6S Plus is not working properly. It is intermittently not syncing mail from my outlook account on my window pc. It worked fine previously but now there are missing emails almost every day. It also keeps downloading all the inbox mail every time I open the app on my phone, and sometimes there is just a blank screen with no mail at all. This has me a bit baffled? Can anyone help with this issue?

Remove your email account and set it up again

Make sure that all of your emails are there or make sure that your email is saved somewhere other than your device. On your device, go to Settings > Mail, then tap Accounts. Tap the email account that you want to remove. Tap Delete Account.
