Shuffle stopped working 6th gen iPod touch

First of all, what are the symptoms?

Not all the menus on the iPod have a shuffle option; for example, you cannot shuffle between playlists, artists or genres. Once in any of the those sections, you will find the shuffle option.

• One method for testing Shuffle is to go into the Songs menu and tap on the Shuffle button. If the iPod does not play anything, it suggests that the songs may be marked as Skip when shuffling in your iTunes library
• Alternatively, start a song playing, bring up the Now Playing screen and turn on the Shuffle option, which you will see by dragging the Now Playing screen up. If the player stops at the end of that song, again that suggests that the remainder of the list is set to Skip when shuffling
