Mac mini 2018 running Mojave 10.14.6 with no keyboard access for prime account user

When booting up from scratch or from sleep, I lose wired keyboard use (no input), but wired Apple mouse (connected through keyboard) works. If I switch user using wired mouse to the Guest account then select my primary user account from menu bar sign-in, the keyboard is recognized, but it repeats the sign-in screen. I feel I have messed up either the account permissions or something else. I have gone to the system preferences and checked the keyboard set up, no obvious problems. Ran an Etrecheck, no issues regarding system there. Keyboard is connected through a USB powered hub. I have tried the direct connection of keyboard to Mac mini using Apple USB extension cable (without rebooting) with no effect on problem. Anybody else experienced this issue and found a solution?

OK, made a direct connection between keyboard and MacMini 2018 running Mojave with Apple keyboard extension cable and still the problem persists. Ran diagnostics, Pram and safe mode with direct wired keyboard connections and still no change. If I access the guest user account with the wired mouse (through keyboard USB connection) and then switch to primary account user, using wired mouse, the keyboard is recognized and I can log in with pass word. However, if waking the computer up from sleep mode, I have to log in twice to access the account. So recap: made direct connection between wired Apple keyboard and MacMini 2018 Intel; re-installed Mojave 10.14.6; ran PRAM, diagnostics and safe mode; ran Etre Check, no issues found. It must be a setting on my account profile or ???? Any assistance appreciated, thanks.
