It sounds like you have might have some malware or adware added to your Mac.
I suggest download and run Etrecheck, a "discovery" Utility, and post its report back to the forums using the built-in instructions. Be sure to select "Allow Full Disk Access" before you say "Go". No personally-identifiable information is included in the report, by design.

This isn't helpful. I know how to do this step, but it isn't fixing the problem. First, it has changed all of the search engines in the list to have the title Google, but the URL leads to search baron, bing or search marquis. Second, the default engine is one of the above, and it doesn't allow that to be edited, nor does it allow that default one to be deleted or replaced with anything from the new list I created (which has the actual URL for google.ca). Only the "edit" button is clickable, and when I try to change the URL it won't accept it. This happened once before and I needed an apple support technician to fix it- that's what I'm attempting to do right now.
