Macbook pro m1 chip track pad works but cant click

i want to know if i can fix this problem its started all of a sudden where my i can move my track pad mouse but i cant click after maybe 5 min of inactivity. when i restart the mac it works fine along as im constantly using it but after i dont use it for example to watch youtube i can use it afterward but it happens with everything

Trackpad (MacBook Pro, 2020 M1) Dear Community, I have been having issues with my trackpad for the past month. Almost every time I try to move my cursor using the trackpad, it will automatically click by itself like 200 times, and it's driving me crazy. I cannot use my trackpad at all and it's really frustrating. Sometimes it works normally but it will eventually start clicking and I will be unable to use my Laptop. Example: I google something and I try to browse down and my trackpad starts clicking and I can't click the link I want to cause it'll click on everything else before I get to the one I want to click on. Example 2: I edit this thread, I try to move my cursor to the first paragraph but it will start clicking and highlighting everything I've googled ways to possibly repair it and I've tried many things such as re-installing the OS, changing certain settings etc... and nothing has worked. I suspect the only thing that'll work is sending it for recovery. But before I do that I wanted to ask if anyone has had the same issue and if they possibly fixed it without having to spend lots of $.

MacBook Air M1 trackpad issue The trackpad on my MB Air M1 is frustrating the heck out of me, and it's not just one issue. Sometimes, it just won't click. Other times, it will click but not drag. And still other times, it will only highlight text and not allow me to click out of it. It's random and, when it starts doing this, sometimes my Magic Mouse will have the same issue. A few times though, I've been able to start using the Magic Mouse and that kind of wakes up the trackpad's functionality, guess it starts feeling insecure about itself or something. Please tell me there's a fix for my possessed trackpad.

Trackpad Hello guys, so when I use my trackpad in my MacBook Pro, it clicks without physically pressing it. Instead, it clicks when I touch the trackpad, with no pressing. Is that normal or not?

It sounds like you're having an issue clicking with your trackpad. We can understand wanting to get that resolved. We want to help.

We'd recommend testing to see if the issue occurs in safe mode. This article explains how: How to use safe mode on your Mac
