Compromised passwords

I use to put Passwords in my Notes file. I don’t do that anymore, but forgot one password for eBay. I’ve now made a new password since I was just informed that someone signed into ebay using a different device. I already had Malewarebytes on my iPhone, but it didn’t detect anyone breaking into my phone. How do I protect my phone from being broken into?

Apple has a document you can follow:

https://support.apple.com/en-au/guide/iphone/iph6e7d349d1/ios

Securing your AppleID is just as important as protecting your phone; if 2-Factor Authentication is available in your region … USE IT.

If it’s not available, you can still seup and use 2-Step Verification.

If (if!) this is arising from a compromise of the Notes, then your Apple ID has seemingly been compromised:

If you think your Apple ID has been compromised - Apple Support

One way this happens:

Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support

And for completeness:

How to lock notes on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

The encryption on the Notes app is good, which means that forgetting a note’s password blocks access to that note.

If you’re using an add-on VPN, remove that.
