Apps are refreshing their content on iOS and iPadOS

Hi,

on my iPad and iPhone using Apps like Facebook, PdfExpert etc. the content automatically refreshes if I switch to another App and then go back to the the first App to continue where I left. They have refreshed so I can't continue where I was, or at least I have to wait a few seconds to refresh content before I could continue my activity. This problem drives in crazy and I was a huge fan of apple but now I’m thinking around not to use iPad any more, because I can’t use multiple apps parallel if they lost their content at a switching. All my Apps update when I bring them back to front and they are loading their content again.

Any idea of what to do?

I have search and searched but can't find any solution for this. Shutting down “app background refresh” in the settings doesn’t solve this problem. I can’t understand why aren’t online forums full of this problem?!

Hope someone can help.

Kind Regards

Agnes

Hi acyka,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. We understand that your apps are refreshing in the background despite Background App Refresh being turned off. Let's see what might be causing this.

Can you let us know what you mean by refreshing? For instance, with FaceBook, are you seeing your devices scroll in News Feed? This is also happening with built-in apps, like Messages or Music? Here's some info about switching apps: Switch apps on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Does restarting your devices help the issue?

Cheers!
