MacBook Pro 2012 retina models and later have the RAMs soldered to the mainboard for maximum reliability. The limit on those with replaceable RAM DIMMs was 16GB.

If you want more, you will need a MacBook Pro issued in the last few years with that much RAM ALREADY installed, or specify that when you buy a new one.

Do you need the portability of the MacBook line? You pay dearly for that portability, and optimizing for portability strongly limits the system in many ways.

NOT so Fast.

MacBook Pro are NOT pulled from a warehouse. Unless you order from dealer stock-on-hand, Every MacBook Pro is built to your order in a factory in China, air-lifted you your country, and delivered by local expedited delivery to you.

Stock-on-hand tends to be only the low-end model that can be moved out quickly, and does not cost as much to have in inventory.
