what is the highest version of Pages for a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro?

The version of Pages is dictated by the operating system on your mid-2012 MBP. The furthest you can upgrade is to macOS Catalina, and that (presently) allows you to install the current Pages v11.1 from the Mac App Store. Apple does not provide user downloadable full Pages installers, so if your operating system is older than Catalina, you likely already have the highest version of Pages you can get short of using Pages for iCloud.
