Archiving Video (Mostly from iPhone)
What is the best away to archive your huge videos that you take on the iPhone? I used to import my files into Photos and remove them from the device but I stopped doing that when iCloud backups got better, and I haven't moved to iCloud Photo Library. However, I do have some large videos that I want to remove because even though I have a 512GB phone, they are taking up significant amount of space.
I plugged my phone into my computer for the first time in forever today and I have so much on my camera roll that Photos isn't displaying the thumbnails too quickly. I know that I can also use Image Capture, and I have Final Cut Pro. So the real question is what is the best way to import your videos to your computer, once I am able to locate it using one of these applications that doesn't filter by size or anything else? Should I use image capture and save the raw file to a folder and then import it from there to either Photos, Final Cut Pro, or iMovie? If I import using Image Capture will it retain all of the metadata and quality? I don't want to have it stuffed into a package and then locked to me at a later date.
Kind of like the whole using a plain text file. I want to be able to use the file and access it later if the software changes.
