Please help! Logic board broken on MacBook Pro 2 times already, less than a year: Kernel panic ?
Hi all, maybe someone can help me with this problem.
I have a 2016 MacBook Pro that was purchased in December of 2016. I have had continued problems with the keyboard and screen from 2017-2018.
At the end of 2019, going into 2020, my key board had the same issue as before with the keys not clicking and now certain keys would type double. Due to Covid I brought it in September and it was sent out and they said the keyboard needed to be replaced. Turns out they replaced the logic board as well as other things.
Fast forward to today, I opened my laptop to start work. I got up to grab a charger and when I got back the screen was black but the key board was lit. It wouldn’t turn on so I plugged it In and waited. Then a crazy screen popped up, and it seemed like there was a “kernel panic” but the whole screen was glitching. It wouldn’t turn on and got super warm and the fan was going while it was closed.
I took it to the store and when I got there the screen turned on and then started glitching. The tech turned it off and it refused to turn back on. He said that the logic board was broken and it would be roughly 600$ to fix it.
I really don’t know what to do, if I should buy a new one or not. I don’t want to buy one if a new Mac will come out soon. Iam a student and need a computer but I also can’t afford to keep paying 600$ to fix this problem. They fixed the logic board less than a year ago without even telling me.
Has anyone has this problem before? How long do the logic boards last? It’s not like I can get Apple care on it now. I’m scared I got a Lemon because I’ve had many macs before and I’ve never had any problems!
