Brand new charging cable not working?

I got a brand new 2m lightning to usb cable today, but every time I plug it into my iPhone 8+, it stops charging after about 45 seconds. If I take it out and plug it in again, it starts charging but ends up starting all over. There’s nothing wrong with the connection to the outlet. How do I fix this? Will I have to get a new one?

Edit: just a few minutes later, it’s now not working at all

Hi there confused_charger24,

We understand you recently purchased a new charger, but it's not working for you. The following page offers guidance that may help: If your iPhone or iPod touch won't charge

If the issue persists, and you can verify another known to be working cable charges your iPhone as expected, it may be necessary to look into return options. If the cable was purchased from Apple, it can be returned within 14 days of purchase. Other retailers may have their own policy, sometimes you can find it printed on the receipt.

We hope this helps!
