HomeKit push notification when not at home OR at night

This question was asked before by a different person but there was no response. I'm asking it again as I have the same question:

"As explained in this Apple support page Get notifications for your HomeKit accessories - Apple Support

If you have a HomeKit hub (HomePod or AppleTV), you can set up notifications for your HomeKit accessory (say, a HomeKit-compatible motion sensor) via Home app to send alerts to a phone at a certain time or if someone arrives, leaves or is/is not at home:

https://support.apple.com/library/content/dam/edam/applecare/images/en_US/iOS/ios12-iphone-x-home-homekit-status-and-notifications-time-people.jpg

These two conditions (Time and People) can be combined such that, for example, alerts will be sent to a phone only at night and when nobody is home. However, this combination does not allow to get alerts during the day when nobody is home.

I would like to get alerts when nobody is home OR at night. I that way I should get notifications:

  • when nobody is home regardless of time of day
  • at night regardless of whether anyone is at home or not

The latter setup seems not possible. Or is it?"

Whilst you’re correct and this is not currently possible. You can achieve the same outcome by repeating the automation, once for when no one is home and then again for at night. The net result will be the same as an “OR” on the conditions. I’m a developer and hate repeating code, so the neatest way to minimise that would be to encapsulate the outcome in a scene that you invoke from both automations.
