Apple Music, Family Sharing

I pay for the family sharing for apple music and invited my step dad to join, When he tries to download music for offline use, he receives the message "You must transfer this device to your Apple ID to play content saved offline. You will be unable to transfer this device again for 90 days." he then gets an option to transfer or cancel. When he selects transfer nothing happens. His device is linked to the current Apple ID and isn’t connected to any other devices, any suggestions?

Greetings, destanie289.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. We can understand why you’d want to help your step dad to listen to Apple Music through your shared Family Group.

“You can have ten devices (no more than five computers) associated with your Apple ID for purchases at one time.

When you try to associate a device that was previously associated, you might see a message that says, "This device is associated with another Apple ID. You cannot associate this device with another Apple ID for [number] days." You might need to wait up to 90 days to associate the device with a different Apple ID.

This list of associated devices is not the same as the list of devices that you're currently signed in to with your Apple ID. You can see where you're signed in on your Apple ID account page.” See and remove your devices that are associated with Apple ID purchases

We hope this helps! Thanks for being a part of the community.

Sincerely.
