My Macbook Air won't enter recovery mode

I've been trying to enter recovery mode on my macbook air and it keeps going into the log in screen instead. I think its because my keyboard won't stay on. So, if anyone knows how to help me, please do, I am begging you. I cried, I literally cried over this...

Hi jpham416,

If your MacBook Air has the M1 chip, Command-R won't send you to macOS Recovery.

To access macOS Recovery, shut down your Mac, then press and hold the power button (Touch ID) until Startup Options begins loading. Then, select Options and click Continue.

If your Mac has an Intel processor instead, try holding down one of these combinations at startup, until you see both the Apple logo and a progress bar, or a spinning globe:

Command-R

Option-Command-R (install newest macOS)

Shift-Option-Command-R (install oldest compatible macOS)

EDIT: If none of those work, try using an external keyboard.
