How can I copy and paste a title between projects without them being linked in Final Cut Pro?

I have a template title and I've made a couple of tweaks to it in final cut pro. However, when I copy and paste that title into another project they are linked so any changes I make to one of the titles affects the title in the other project. I can see the use case for this but it's really unhelpful for what I am trying to do. Is there an easy way to stop this behaviour? I would like to avoid editing the original template in motion.

You wrote “template” but if I understand correctly you are using a compound clip.

To avoid changes made to the new instance reflecting on the old one, you have to this: before making changes, select the new instance of the compound clip, and do

Clip->Reference New Parent Clip

Then changes made to one copy will be completed separate from the other. Do so again whenever you want to reuse the compound (on the same project or on a different one) and make changes only to that version.
