My M1 Mackook air’s keyboard backlight is not lighting up the key’s evenly. Some of them are lit up more than others and others are lit up less. The machine is about 5 months old and the problem only started recently. It is quite apparent when working on the laptop. Can someone please assist.

If you turn the backlight off and back on, or adjust the brightness of your keyboard, does the issue continue? Turn your Mac keyboard’s backlighting on or off
Since this issue began, have you tried to restart your Mac? Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac
If you have a Mac with Apple Silicon, restarting your computer will reset the System Management Controller (SMC). If the issue continues after that, Contact Official Apple Support for more help.
