I've noticed an issue with the audio while watching videos. All sounds that are played starts with a small popping or static noise, for example starting a video or pausing and then unpausing. This sound can be heard while using the macbook's speakers and wired headphones but not with bluetooth and is starting to get very annoying. Anyone else with similar issues?

I have now found a temporary fix, which isn't very good but it works. Open Quicktime and open a new audio recording, you don't need to start the audio recording just keep the small window opened. This somehow causes the annoying popping sound when watching videos to disappear.
Does the static sound happen when watching videos with any browser? I am trying to find out whether this is limited to watching videos with only one browser. Try another video app or browser and see if the issue is experienced there or not.

Understood. Did you buy the M1 MacBook Air less than 12 months ago? If YES, then it still carries the Apple 1YR Limited Warranty. I recommend that you have your computer examined at the Apple Store or at an Authorized Service Center for further diagnosis and resolution. Take advantage of the warranty.

It seems like the audio pop is not there when watching videos through quicktime, only a small pop in the beginning of the video but pausing and unpausing is fine, same with listening to music on spotify app. Spotify played through browser doesn't have any popping sound att all. The static pop is only there when there's both video and sound like watching videos on youtube.
I do have warranty left so if this is not only some software bug I will try to get my computer examined. Thank you for your help!
One more thing! I've tried watching videos through safari and firefox, and now also chrome. With chrome there is only a small popping sound in the beginning of the video, but none when pausing, unpausing and scrolling through the video. Safari has the loudest popping sound of the three browsers I've tested.

The browser doesn't matter, I tried with safari and firefox and both have the popping sound when a sound is starting.
You have done quite a bit of work to address the popping sound issue which is associated with Video+Sound. You have found a workaround however not a solution. I still recommend getting your MacBook Air examined under warranty.
