screen mirroring from Macbook Pro to AppleTV does not work

The Mabook Pro lists the AppleTV name in the mirror options.

But when I connect, immediately it pops up and says "Could not connect to ....." with a speaker icon on the top

Screen Mirroring to AppleTV cuts the MacBook Audio (but the Video's Fine) When I Mirror from MacBook Pro to AppleTV box, I want the video and audio to play on BOTH devices. Currently, I get both audio & video on the appleTV from the MacBook Pro. But I get no audio on the MacBook Pro, until I stop the mirroring. Is this normal? Is there a setting I can change? (99% of the results I got when I googled for "why appletv has no sound")

Casting from Mac (Ventura) with external dvd player to TV I have an external DVD player which seems to work fine in conjunction with the Mac itself. And I can screen mirror to my LG TV with no problem. But the combination does not work. As soon as I go to mirroring, the DVD app just displays a gray box, overwriting the video (apparently). I'm guessing it has something to do with resolving conflicts in resolution or the like, but do not know how to go about fixing the problem. Suggestions? Thanks!

Are the devices on the same network?
