Facebook App: login error an unexpected error occurred. please try logging in again

You have come to the right place and we are happy to assist you as much as we can. We understand you're having an issue with your Facebook login.   We can understand why you’d reach out for a solution. Although we are not experts on Facebook, we may be able to provide a work around of sorts. Make sure you have the most current operating system on your device. (Settings > General > Software Update). We would suggest trying an app specific password for Facebook and have included the link below. This has worked well with some email providers that require an authorization.

I ended up trying it and it didn’t work, haven’t had a problem with purchases or back ups but the fb app still won’t work. I guess the only other option is to factory reset the phone which I’m not willing to do!

Omg I have the same issue! Since the beginning of this year. I want to change my Apple ID maybe that would help me get my fb back but I’m worried I’ll loose all my photos. And I saw it didn’t help u? 😭😫

Thank you for getting back to us. Yes you can change your Apple ID email address, delete the Facebook app and re-download it. When you change your Apple ID, our system will still recognize it as you, so all your apps and downloads will be kept under you. Maybe that will work for you.

Change your Apple ID

You will want to sign out of everything that your logged into prior to making the change. Then you will just log in with new Apple ID email and password.

I didn’t lose any of my content it literally just changed my apple email.

My Instagram app works but still nothing for FB or messenger.

I tried the apps on a different device and they worked fine so it’s definitely something to do with my current apple device 😭

If you only change your email address as the link above shows, you will retain access to all your data and purchases.

All your content stays, just changes the email but no it didn’t help with making the FB and messenger app work 😢

Gotcha! My messenger and fb don’t work and it stresses me out bc I tried everything. Called Apple and they said it had to do with fb but I believe it’s the Apple id

I changed my Apple ID and both apps still don’t work! The only thing I haven’t tried is resetting my iPhone without iCloud backup which I’m not willing to do 😬
