Thunderbolt 2 ( male) - whatever??

Folks, Is it me, or am I just looking the wrong place?

I’ve got a late 2015 iMac with 2x Thunderbolt 2 outputs on the back & I’d like to try and use them with perhaps hubs or docks with USB 3.0 or higher or even USB-c or Thunderbolt 3.

Is there any help out there or what did users put back then to their ports

Any help would be welcome!

Exasperated,

Leslie

I have that exact model. I never found anything that was even remotely cost effective, $300-$600USD was simply not worth it. All I wanted to do was use the two ports, instead I got an el-cheapo compatible dock and effectively created more USB-A ports. But that's not perfect; the SuperDrive needs the port on the Mac, or maybe a more expensive dock. But it did solve my immediate needs.

Thanks for that, ya that’s what I’m finding. And that’s probably what I’ll end up doing.

seems absolutely absurd why a company such as apple doesn’t this, alienating their own client base & helping the haters.

They’re the ones that say they’re trying to help the planet yet keep changing cables, connections, 3 rd party add ons & the such. Where is a simple Thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter to help us all?

Come on Apple, you saying it can’t be done & help us all🤷🏻‍♂️

Dropping support for old tech is not new. Look at how they handled ports on MacBook Air And Pro models. As rapidly as tech advances, it's hard to avoid leaving somebody out in the cold. Is that the best course of action? Depends on your viewpoint. Regardless, Apple's Mission is to increases stockholder value, increase income and decrease expenses. Pleasing every single customer in every way is not in their mission statement. And, after all, there are alternatives to Apple products when your tolerance level is exceeded.

I was a Windows power user for well over 30 years, built, repaired, refurbished, and upgraded Windows computers and networks. In 2015 I dropped all that in favor of Apple. Given a couple of days, I can tell you stories, personal experiences, about Microsoft that make Apple look like Girl Scouts.
